Mullica Township Republican Leadership Team Endorses Richter for Congress
MULLICA, NJ – David Richter, Republican congressional candidate to represent New Jersey’s Second Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, announced today that he has received the endorsements of four elected officials in Mullica Township, Atlantic County, in his campaign to unseat freshman Democrat Jeff Van Drew.
Richter received endorsements from Mullica Township Mayor Chris Silva, Deputy Mayor Larry Riffle, Councilwoman and Republican Club President Kristi Hanselmann, and Councilman Bruce Crowe.
“As someone who comes from a business background, David understands what it takes to be successful in business, and meet a payroll. David’s exemplary career in business makes him a worthy candidate for our support in his race for the Second District,” said Silva.
“As a Veteran, I want a candidate who I can trust, someone who is going to stand up for people like us. David is that person. I know that we can trust him in Washington to fight for us and our families,” said Riffle.
“I’m impressed by David’s energy. He has a plan, and a solid grasp on the issues affecting not only places like Mullica Township but all across the district. When he’s our Congressman, David will be able to deliver for us at the federal level to make our communities better at the local level,” said Hanselmann.
“I met David recently when he spoke to our Republican Club and I was impressed by his passion. David is someone who cares about us, and who wants to move our communities in the right direction. I’m proud to stand with him and support his campaign for Congress,” said Crowe.
New Jersey’s Second Congressional District includes all of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties as well as parts of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Ocean counties.
Jeff Van Drew is one of the most vulnerable Democrats in Congress. President Donald Trump won the district by five points in 2016 and Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bob Hugin won it by ten points in 2018, while Van Drew barely won the district last year with only 52.9% of the vote despite outspending his Republican opponent by more than six-to-one.
“Despite running as an alleged conservative Democrat, Van Drew has voted with Speaker Nancy Pelosi 91% of the time and with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 84% of the time. He is voting against the interests of small and family-owned businesses, he is voting against the interests of law-abiding gun owners, and he is voting against the interests of working families. The citizens of South Jersey need a real conservative in Congress who will work hard for smaller government, lower taxes and secure borders, and who will fight to protect, not undermine, their constitutional rights,” said Richter.
Richter is the former CEO of global construction management firm Hill International. A lifelong Republican, he grew up in and has spent most of his life living and working in South Jersey. He earned two bachelor’s degrees and a law degree from Penn as well as master’s degrees from Oxford and Harvard. Richter and his wife Michelle, who have been married for 20 years, are the parents of four daughters.
