N.J. Working Families: Minimum wage bill tone deaf failure to learn election lessons

New Jersey Working Families State Director Sue Altman has released the following statement in response to Senator Vin Gopal’s proposed legislation to roll back the state’s minimum wage law:

“Senator Gopal’s ill-conceived, last-minute push to tear down New Jersey’s minimum wage bill sends a message that part of the Trenton political class hasn’t learned the lesson of this week’s elections. It’s not enough to be a Democrat in New Jersey to win elections in battleground districts. Our elected officials must also stand on the side of working families and with Democratic principles.

“At a time when Trenton is being consumed by the scandal around Economic Development Agency giveaways totaling billions of dollars to the politically connected, this bill displays a level of tone deafness that is breathtaking. New Jersey voters expect their elected officials to fight for them – and not for powerful business interests.”
