National Organization for Women Political Action Committee Endorses Stephanie Schmid

The National Organization for Women (NOW) Political Action Committee is endorsing Stephanie Schmid for Congress in New Jersey’s 4th District.

“National Organization for Women Political Action Committee is proud to endorse Stephanie Schmid for United States Representative in New Jersey’s 4th District. Stephanie’s experience protecting and advancing women’s rights at home and abroad as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer and human rights attorney proves that she is the type of leader we need in federal office. We are thrilled to be able to replace Representative Chris Smith, who supports outlawing abortion outright and banning access to birth control, with Stephanie, who is a champion of reproductive rights. We look forward to working with Stephanie to achieve full equality for women and girls,” said Anjali Mehrotra, President of National Organization for Women of New Jersey.

Stephanie is honored to have NOW Political Action Committee’s endorsement. “The National Organization for Women Political Action Committee is a renowned group that has been supporting women and fighting tirelessly for equality since 1977, and I have always been inspired by their work,” Stephanie said. “We have the opportunity this year to finally flip this seat and replace Rep. Chris Smith, who has spent the past 39 years attacking reproductive rights, with a true human rights and equality champion. I am humbled and thankful to have NOW Political Action Committee’s support, and know that together we can send Rep. Smith into retirement and elect the first-ever Congresswoman in NJ-04.”

Stephanie is a New Jersey native, a retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer and Diplomat who served our country overseas on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, and a human rights litigation attorney and advocate. She won the Democratic primary in NJ-04 with 70% of the vote and continues to work to expand her grassroots coalition to finally bring new leadership to New Jersey’s 4th District for the first time in 40 years. As the next Representative in NJ-04, Stephanie will work tirelessly to ensure that we have access to the resources we need before, during, and after a global crisis.
