NBC 4 NEW YORK HONORED WITH FOUR REGIONAL EDWARD R. MURROW AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN BROADCAST REPORTING

 

NBC 4 I-Team coverage of North Bergen government awarded for “Continuing Coverage”

 

NEW YORK, NY — (April 23, 2019) – Recognizing the very best in broadcast journalism throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and across the nation, the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) today awarded NBC 4 New York with four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for journalistic excellence.  These prestigious honors reflect the best in large market television news within the states of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

 

Among the winners was Chief Investigative Reporter Jonathan Dienst and the NBC 4 I-Team, recognized for “continuing coverage” of the Township of North Bergen in Northern New Jersey.

NBC 4 New York’s four regional Edward R. Murrow honors were awarded in the following categories:

 

  • Continuing Coverage: Recognizing Chief Investigative Reporter Jonathan Dienst, Investigative Producer David Paredes and the NBC 4 I-Team’s investigation of the Township of North Bergen in Northern New Jersey, including the Housing Authority, Mayor’s Office and the Board of Education.   • Sports Reporting: Recognizing reporter Marc Santia’s coverage of the annual NYPD/FDNY baseball game in Coney Island and the story of NYPD Detective Julio LaSalle, who joined New York’s finest following a career in professional baseball. Today’s regional winners are automatically entered and advanced to the national Edward R. Murrow Awards competition, which will be judged in June 2019. The national awards will be presented in October at the RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala in New York City.
