New Direction NJ Releases New Ad Focused on Implementing Millionaire’s Tax, Dedicating Revenue to Middle Class Property Tax Relief

TRENTON, NJ — New Direction NJ is continuing its effort supporting Governor Phil Murphy’s budget proposal with a new ad focused on the need for tax fairness to fund property tax relief for the middle class. Titled “Break,” the ad begins running on cable television and digital placements today. It features Governor Murphy and a group of middle class New Jersey residents speaking direct to camera about why the richest 1% should pay their fair share in taxes to lower the crippling property tax burden on millions of everyday taxpayers.

“New Jersey residents get it — they understand that Governor Murphy’s call for tax fairness is the right policy for our state, which is why 72% of them support raising taxes on income over $1 million according to recent polling,” said Philip Swibinski, spokesman for New Direction NJ. “It’s time for the State Legislature to start listening to the people who vote them into office and stop protecting 19,000 millionaires who clearly don’t need their help at the expense of millions of middle class taxpayers.”

In the ad, Governor Murphy reinforces his call for millionaires like himself to pay more in taxes to fund middle class property tax relief. The very wealthiest residents of the state who have benefited from both state and federal tax cuts in recent years simply do not need another break — but the middle class does, and that’s what implementing the millionaire’s tax and providing property tax relief will accomplish.
