New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer Endorses
Brigid Callahan Harrison for Congress

[June 22, 2020 – Longport, New Jersey] Brigid for South Jersey announced today that Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05) has endorsed Brigid Callahan Harrison for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd congressional district.

Congressman Gottheimer and Congressman Sires now represent the two members of the New Jersey congressional delegation who have endorsed during the NJ-02 primary, both endorsing Harrison.  They join Senator Menendez and Senator Booker who have already endorsed Brigid’s candidacy.  Senator Booker has also chosen to bracket only with Brigid in each of the county ballots during the primary election on Tuesday, July 7th.

The following are statements from Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05) and Brigid Callahan Harrison:

Congressman Josh Gottheimer:
“I’m proud to endorse Brigid Callahan Harrison for Congress. She is running a strong campaign focused on the issues that unite us — ensuring access to affordable health care for all, protecting our clean air and water, fighting for racial justice, and helping grow the economy and create good jobs. I look forward to working with Brigid in Congress to fight for Democratic priorities and values and serve the people of New Jersey.”

Brigid Harrison, Democratic Candidate for the 2nd Congressional District:
“I am deeply honored to have Congressman Gottheimer’s support and so thrilled that our campaign has built such an unprecedented coalition of Democrats and union leaders during a contested primary campaign. Since December, we have ignored the attacks from my primary opponent’s well financed Super PACs and focused on three critical points to beat Jeff Van Drew in November – outlining substantive policy, bringing the Democratic party together, and building the needed grassroots infrastructure so we beat Van Drew and Trump in the Fall.  I realize that what we are seeing during this campaign, on our streets, and in our homes is clearly more than a campaign, but a movement and our communities are demanding change.  I am proud to stand with such a diverse group of voters, community leaders, and elected officials and I will not stop fighting until we see South Jersey finally receive its fair share in Washington.”

Congressman Gottheimer’s endorsement joins one of the most formative coalitions ever for a contested New Jersey congressional primary, which already includes senior New Jersey Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker,Congressman Albio Sires, State Senate President Steve Sweeney, State Senator Dawn Marie Addiego, Assemblyman Adam Taliaferro, Assemblyman John Armato, Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo, Mayor Pete Byron, Wildwood, Mayor Teresa Kelly, Buena Vista Township, Mayor Jesse Tweedle, Pleasantville, Cumberland County Freeholder Joe Derella, Atlantic County Freeholder Ernest Coursey, Cape May County Democratic Chairman Brendan Sciarra, Cumberland County Democratic Chairman, Steven Errickson, Salem County Democratic Chairman Steve Caltabiano, Gloucester County Democratic Chairman Senator Fred Madden, Camden County Democratic Chairman, Senator Jim Beach,Burlington County Democratic Chairman, Joseph Andl.
