New Jersey Department of Labor Launches Summer 2023 Paid Internship Program

TRENTON – The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) is accepting applications through April 5 for its summer internship program.

The Intern Learning Experience for Achievement and Development, or iLEAD, program will run June 26 through August 4, 2023. Interns will earn $23.14 per hour during this six-week, project-based job opportunity that will involve research, developing action plans, and more. Additionally, each intern will be assigned a supervisor to serve as a mentor and guide throughout the program.

“The Department of Labor and Workforce Development is thrilled to provide this opportunity for students to get real experience in the exciting and rewarding public sector,” said Labor Commissioner Robert Asaro-Angelo. “Through this program, our interns will benefit from the decades of knowledge shared by their mentors, while honing their purpose and passion to guide them in the next steps of their careers.”

Applicants must be a current postsecondary (undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral) student during the internship period.

NJDOL hosted 62 interns in the 2022 program, with several continuing in full- or part-time employment with the Department. About 50 interns will be hired this summer.

More information about the program and how to apply may be found here. Interested candidates should submit a completed application packet and required attachments to NJDOLInterns@dol.nj.gov with “Internship ID #202303” in the subject line of the email.
