New Jersey LCV calls for swift action on Biden climate and budget framework
New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Ed Potosnak issued the following statement responding to President Biden’s announcement of a framework for the Build Back Better Act, a landmark budget and climate deal:
We are excited that President Biden announced a budget framework yesterday that has as its centerpiece the strongest action the United States has ever taken to combat the climate crisis. This framework will invest more than half a trillion dollars in building a 21st century clean energy economy that will create millions of union jobs as we modernize our electricity grid, weatherize our homes and businesses and expand renewable energy usage, from solar panels to offshore wind farms.
This framework is an essential first step toward meeting our climate goals and preventing increasingly severe storms and sea level rise that have produced increasingly severe weather events, from Superstorm Sandy to Hurricane Ida.
On this historic day, we are calling on New Jersey’s entire congressional delegation to stand behind the president and quickly get the Build Back Better Act through Congress and to the president’s desk.
