NEW JERSEY LCV DEMANDS BOLD FEDERAL CLIMATE ACTION NOW

The statewide political voice for the environment says we can’t wait any longer; the future of the state, nation, and planet are at stake

TRENTON – The following statement is from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, regarding the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assessment about the state of the planet, which details how humans have altered the environment at an “unprecedented” pace and cautions that the world risks increasingly catastrophic impacts in the absence of rapid greenhouse gas emission reductions.

“This report is yet another alarm bell, and we are almost out of time. This summer in New Jersey we’ve had historic heat waves and significant flooding, and we’ve experienced a dystopian haze from the forest fires out West — a scary omen of the future we are building. And we’ll never forget Superstorm Sandy and the total devastation that destroyed homes, communities, and our regional shore economies, said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “Congress must pass President Biden’s dual track legislation on climate action, justice, and jobs. We are out of time and we can’t wait any longer. We need action immediately to preserve our beautiful state, nation, and planet for our children and grandchildren.”

New Jersey League of Conservation Voters is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to elect environmental champions, hold public officials accountable, and support laws which protect our environment and improve the quality of people’s lives.
