NEW JERSEY LCV SUPPORTS BIDEN-HARRIS ADMINISTRATION GOAL TO STOP OIL AND GAS LEASING ON FEDERAL LANDS AND WATERS
TRENTON – The following statement is from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, supporting the Biden-Harris administration’s campaign promise to end all new leasing for fossil fuels on federal lands and waters.
“Federal lands belong to the people, not rich fossil fuel interests that are driving the climate crisis. The federal oil and gas leasing program is antiquated, broken, and requires holistic reform. It prioritizes development over protecting wildlife, recreation, renewable energy resources, and maintaining clean air and water,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “We hope that the Biden-Harris administration and new Secretary of the Interior Debra Haaland will work to adopt a new mandate, which recognizes that leasing, in very limited cases, should be allowed only if it is consistent with clean energy goals and protects our precious land and water resources.”
