NEW JERSEY LCV SUPPORTS PASSAGE OF ASSEMBLY BILL TO PROVIDE GRANT FUNDING FOR ELECTRIC SCHOOL BUSES
“It’s time to stop choking our children with dirty diesel air as they go to and from school. We support electrifying every school bus as soon as possible and this three-year program is a good first step to having our kids, especially those who live in already overburdened communities, breathe cleaner air. We look forward to continuing to work with Assemblyman Stanley and Senator Diegnan to make this bill law,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “Studies show that New Jersey continues to have some of the most polluted air in the nation, and school buses are the most heavily used public form of transportation. Cars, trucks, and buses are making the most vulnerable among us – our children – sick, and transitioning to electric vehicles will help reduce emissions and localized air pollution. The bill allows for the program to utilize existing funding sources while providing us critical information to scale this program up in the future.”
