NEW JERSEY LEAGUE OF CONSERVATION VOTERS ENDORSES JERSEY CITY COUNCILMAN JERMAINE ROBINSON FOR RE-ELECTION

September 15, 2021 (Jersey City) – Ward F Councilman Jermaine Robinson is pleased to announce the endorsement of his candidacy by the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters. The New Jersey LCV is the statewide political voice for the environment, working to elect environmentally responsible candidates to state and local offices.

“I am grateful that the New Jersey LCV has recognized my commitment to open space and a clean environment in Jersey City,” said Councilman Robinson. “Their work to protect the environment is directly in line with my beliefs, and the work I’ve done in my ward and throughout the city to hold companies and organizations responsible for their part in protecting our environment and providing usable open spaces for our families to live and play.”

In addition to revitalizing six parks in Jersey City over the last four years, Councilman Robinson successfully pushed the state to commit to cleaning Liberty State Park’s contaminated land and turn 61 acres of the land into active recreation for ball fields, courts, swimming pools and playgrounds. In 2019, Councilman Robinson spearheaded the effort to investigate a company that was found guilty of dumping potentially hazardous waste in Ward F, and pushed for the Jersey City health department to formally declare the toxic dumping a public health emergency.

“From Jersey City to Moorestown, Phillipsburg to Red Bank candidates at the local and county level are stepping up and providing a clear choice to voters who care about tackling climate change, protecting drinking water, reducing emissions and preserving open space,” said Henry Gajda, Public Policy Director of New Jersey LCV in a prepared statement. “While much of the attention is rightly focused on the top of the ticket, we know that all politics is local and that the choices county commissioners and township councilmembers make shape local communities in profound ways. We’re proud to endorse such a strong slate of pro-conservation candidates.”
