New Jersey League of Conservation Voters lauds new Biden renewable energy goal
New Jersey should also adopt new clean energy goals
TRENTON – New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Executive Director, Ed Potosnak, issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s announcement of a bold new clean energy plan to use solar energy to produce nearly half of the nation’s electricity by 2050, part of his ambitious bid to address the climate crisis.
“At a time when New Jersey families are still feeling the impacts from Hurricane Ida, it is encouraging that President Biden has rolled out an aggressive new solar energy target designed to curb climate change and reduce carbon pollution. But to achieve this goal, it is essential that Congress swiftly pass the president’s Build Back Better agenda to invest in clean energy and create good-paying union jobs,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director New Jersey LCV. “The elected leaders in Trenton should follow the president’s lead by adopting an aggressive new clean electricity target for New Jersey, as we recently outlined in our Green in ‘21: Environmental Policy Guide, including a change in the timeline for achieving 100% clean electricity by 2035. The time to act is now.”
