New Jersey Senator and Majority Conference Leader Vin Gopal Endorses Emma Mammano’s Bid for State Senate
Brick, New Jersey – September 30, 2021– Emma Mammano (D-Ocean), leading candidate for Senate in New Jersey’s 10th Legislative District, has gained the endorsement of Senator and Majority Conference Leader Vin Gopal (D-Monmouth).
“Today, I am putting my support behind Emma Mammano for state senate in LD-10. We need leaders who govern from their hearts and are capable of negotiating and collaborating in order to get legislation passed,” said Gopal. “Drawing from my experience as a state senator, a small-business owner and an advocate for bipartisanship, I believe that Emma Mammano is the best choice to both represent LD-10 and improve the livelihoods of New Jerseyans across the state.”
Senator Gopal first won his seat in 2017 after defeating Republican incumbent Jennifer Beck in Monmouth County. Within Ocean County, candidate Mammano shares the challenge of flipping the seat in a district long held by State Senator James Holzapfel. Mammano is running alongside assembly candidates Tony Kono and Sharon Quilter to represent Ocean County’s 10th legislative district, which includes Brick, Toms River, Manchester, and other shore towns.
Responding to the news of this significant endorsement, Mammano stated, “I would be honored to work with Senator Gopal to write and pass legislation in the best interest of our constituencies and to move New Jersey forward.”
Alongside Senator Gopal’s endorsement, Mammano is currently endorsed by organizations such as the AFL-CIO, NJEA, American Federation of Teachers, Vote Mama, as well as Congressman Andy Kim.
Mammano is working to protect Barnegat Bay and address the increasing threats posed by climate change along the Jersey Shore. If elected, she also plans to restore school funding to a district that has been subject to state funding cuts and lower healthcare costs for seniors and veterans alike.
Mammano earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Dance from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY. She went on to earn her master’s degree in Clinical Child Psychology at Southern Illinois University and later on to earn a second master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Monmouth University. She currently serves as commissioner of the Brick Housing Authority and previously served as president of the Ocean County Women’s Caucus.
