New Jersey Society of CPAs Names Theresa Hinton Chief Operating Officer
ROSELAND, N.J. – The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) has named Theresa Hinton Chief Operating Officer. Hinton, previously the director of member engagement at the NJCPA, replaces Ellen McSherry, who retired effective May 31.
Hinton has a long history with the NJCPA, most recently having spent more than nine years heading up member engagement and chapter relations as well as acting as interim director of continuing professional education. She had a previous eight-year stint managing NJCPA’s membership development and chapter relations, as well as helping to direct operations.
McSherry, who has been in the COO role since 1991, oversaw the management of all programs that support the NJCPA’s strategic plan, mission and vision. She was instrumental in successfully restructuring the NJCPA’s governance structure and pipeline system for future NJCPA leaders and assisted in creating the Women’s Leadership Forum, an online forum for female NJCPA members to make meaningful connections.

She brings a wealth of knowledge to the position,” said Ralph Albert Thomas, CPA (DC), CGMA, CEO and executive director at the NJCPA.
Hinton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from The College of New Jersey. She and her husband, Todd, live in Florham Park with their son, Connor, and two daughters, Kaleigh and Amanda.
