GLEN RIDGE– On a Thursday evening, New Jersey Working Families Alliance hosted its annual gala to commemorate its ten year anniversary in the Garden State, where they recognized the organization’s leadership and advocacy since its inception. During the event, the organization honored key partners and allies, including Democratic Party Vice Chair Lizette Delgado-Polanco, the Communication Workers of America District 1, Governor-Elect Phil Murphy and Congressman Donald Norcross,

“The last ten years have been a testament to the power of grassroots activism and the important role progressive organizations such as New Jersey Working Families can play on defending our Democracy” said Analilia Mejia, Director of NJWFA. Leaders from every county across the state attended the event, including five congressional candidates from Congressional Districts 3, 7 and 11. NJWFA is one of the few statewide political organizations that engages at every level of electoral politics.

“It’s a great pleasure to be honored by the New Jersey Working Families Alliance. New Jersey Working Families is at the forefront of the progressive movement in New Jersey,” said Governor Elect Phil Murphy. “Im proud they stood with me at every step of the campaign from the primary to the general.  I ran on a progressive platform and that’s exactly how we plan on governing come January.”

The event was headlined by keynote speaker, Stacey Abrams, Georgia House Minority Leader and Gubernatorial candidate. “The Working Families Party is a key factor in the progressive movement, not only in New Jersey but the United States” said Ms Abrams.

A moment of levity was introduced during the event, when the organizers displayed a cutout of outgoing Governor, Chris Christie from his infamous BeachGate.
