New Jersey Working Families Endorses Christine Clarke, LD26 Assembly Candidate

Jefferson Twp., NJ:   26th Legislative District State Assembly candidate Christine Clarke’s tireless volunteer work has again been recognized, this time by the endorsement of New Jersey Working Families.

The New Jersey Working Families Alliance is a grassroots independent political organization fighting for a government that represents the needs and values of working families.  Working Families has been instrumental in leading the way toward earned sick time for New Jerseyans, a fairer budget and taxes, protecting and strengthening voting rights, and the fight for a living minimum wage.

In a statement, Sue Altman, State Director of New Jersey Working Families, said,  “Christine is unbought and will fight hard to pass good legislation that finally starts to tip the scales in Trenton away from the wealthy and politically-connected few, like a Millionaire’s Tax and corporate subsidy reform. Let’s send Christine to Trenton to advocate for the many, and in the coming years, let’s send many like her to take back New Jersey for working people.”

“Working Families gets things done. They are relentless advocates for all of New Jersey’s hard working residents. They aren’t afraid to challenge authority, be a needed voice for the unheard or have tough conversations to get important legislation passed on behalf of working people,” said Clarke, “I am a member, an ally, have co-organized multiple events with them and have proudly stood beside them in recent years. I am honored to receive this endorsement.”

“This is another example where walking the talk matters,” said Clarke’s campaign manager, Benjamin Weisman. “Christine’s prior work organizing calls to action, free public educational forums and online town halls, public service events and demonstrations alongside partners like Working Families matters enough that she was named an architect of the mid-term blue wave by the group, and they know Christine’s character and integrity well already.  When elected, she will be a voice in Trenton for working families’ needs.”

Clarke is an environmental advocate, a grassroots organizer and mother-of-four running for State Assembly to advance clean energy jobs, protect clean air and water, improve healthcare, and legislate with empathy and fiscal responsibility. She has earned the seal of approval from a wide array of organizations including unions, environmental and conservation groups, firefighters, educators, nurses, women’s rights groups and advocacy organizations, at state and national levels.  She has lived in Jefferson for 15 years with her husband and four children. The 26th District includes 13 communities in Essex, Morris, and Passaic counties: Butler, Fairfield, Jefferson, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park, Montville, Morris Plains, North Caldwell, Parsippany, Rockaway Township, Verona, West Caldwell, and West Milford.  All 80 State Assembly seats are on the ballot on November 5, 2019.
