NJ charities receive nearly $800,000 from KearnyBank Foundation

Fiscal 2019 giving focused on quality-of-life, education, community betterment, housing

FAIRFIELD, NJ (Feb. 12, 2020) – For the KearnyBank Foundation, it’s all about improving lives. During fiscal 2019, the foundation contributed nearly $800,000 to a broad range of charitable groups and organizations across New Jersey and beyond. Primary categories of emphasis for the KearnyBank Foundation are quality-of-life, education, community betterment, and housing.

Highlight contributions during 2019 included an ongoing corporate partnership with Junior Achievement of New Jersey, as well as a grant to the Meadowlands Area YMCA.

Under the partnership arrangement, the KearnyBank foundation underwrites select Junior Achievement financial rewards with an emphasis on programming, as well as the organization’s signature New Jersey Business Hall of Fame event. Senior Kearny Bank executives serve on various Junior Achievement boards, while bank employees provide volunteer support related to sharing information with and mentoring middle school and high school students related to such topics as money management, smart consumerism, career exploration, and financial literacy.

The Meadowlands Area YMCA contribution, which will be disbursed during a five-year period, focuses both on programming and equipment acquisition at the organization’s 83,000-square-foot facility in East Rutherford. The YMCA’s key program categories – all of which will benefit from the foundation’s support –

are Child Development, Fitness, Health and Wellness, Education, Arts, and Aquatics.

“Almost anywhere you look, there’s a great deal of need,” says Craig Montanaro, Kearny Bank’s President and CEO. “At Kearny Bank, we’re proud that our success enables us to provide assistance through some of New Jersey’s finest community organizations. I’m confident that our foundation truly makes lives better.”
