NJ GOP State Committeeman Joshua Sotomayor Einstein Issues Statement on Recent Controversy
Hudson County, NJ – I accept full responsibility for my actions a decade ago, when I was in my 20’s and long before I was elected to NJ GOP State Committee, which have recently been the subject of regional media attention. As I often have with other female friends, sometime between 2 and 3 years ago, I told a now former female friend a cautionary tale regarding men using my own immature and stupid legal past behavior as an example. That this former friend may have political reasons to now take objection to a text story that she sat on for years is not relevant to the regret I have for my poor choices and the fact that in the past I was careless with other people’s feelings. Nor does the fact that for at least a year after the story in question, which did not involve her but which she calls part of her “survivor story” and in which I described my actions at the time as “horrible” and “horrid,” she continued to text, call, and try and make plans with me, change the fact that I am deeply sorry for the previous way I treated other human beings.
It is my hope that by this coming to light we can all heed the words of the golden rule – “do not do unto others as you would have them not do unto you” – and treat all people with the respect every human being deserves.
