NJ-02 — December 16, 2019 — New Jersey High School Democrats condemn Representative Jeff Van Drew’s decision to switch to the Republican Party. A beneficiary of NJHSD’s 2018 Congressional Internship Program, NJHSD members set his record aside to work towards making Congressman Van Drew part of a new Democratic House of Representatives. With his decision, Van Drew has betrayed the trust of the thousands of New Jerseyans who put their doubts aside to vote him into Congress. “The fact that so many high schoolers spent hours of their time in order to get him elected really stings. But it gives us all the more motivation to energize the constituents in his district to elect a Representative that will fight for their constituents’ beliefs, rather than for their own personal gain,” said Lexi Abrams, NJHSD’s Political Director.
