NJ Pride Chamber of Commerce kicks off 2022 with a sold out Brunch in Long Branch
NJ Pride Chamber of Commerce kicks off 2022 with a sold out Brunch in Long Branch alongside Congressman Frank Pallone and other statewide officials such as Assemblyman Wayne Deangelo, Don Guardian and Paterson City Council President Maritza Davila. On Saturday February 12, the NJPCC held its first signature event for 2022 at 10PRL in Long Branch. The sold out crowd represented business owners and leaders from all over NJ.
Retired Surrogate Court Judge Bernice Toledo Welcomed the audience to the event and explained why the NJPCC was important to LGBTQIA+ individuals, especially business owners. The NJPCC has rebranded (formerly NJ LGBT Chamber of Commerce) and is looking to get the Governor to recognize LGBT owned businesses in the same program as WMBE’s are in the state. This certification would allow these businesses greater access to government contracts and also land on the radar of the 28 corporations that call NJ home that are part of the Fortune 500 Companies in America looking to spend dollars in LGBT businesses.
Congressman Pallone spoke of the accomplishments made for LGBTQIA+ residents in NJ and stands with the NJPCC in getting them recognized by the state. The new Executive Director, Paterson native, Gus Penaranda told the audience that there could be no full inclusion for LGBT members in New Jersey without Economic Inclusion and will do everything possible to get this Executive Order signed by the Governor. The NJPCC is coming to Paterson for its second signature event sometime in June. The Health & Wellness Fair will provide the local community access to resources and information involving health equity in NJ.
