NJ STATE BUILDING TRADES COUNCIL ENDORSES 2022 CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES

(Perth Amboy, NJ) – The NJ State Building & Construction Trades Council announced its endorsements today for the November 2022 Congressional elections. Altogether, the union trades’ council – comprised of over 150,000 tradesmen from across the state – endorsed a bipartisan slate of ten Democrats and two Republicans in New Jersey’s 12 Congressional Districts.

“In today’s hyper-partisan environment, the tens of thousands of men and women of the trades are looking for leaders in Washington who are willing to put the bickering aside and actually get things done for our hard-working families,” said NJBCTC President William T. Mullen.

Mullen added, “In the Building Trades, we focus on one thing, building. The more we build, the better we can provide for our families and colleagues. The candidates we’ve endorsed today share our passion and commitment to growing the economy and investing in our infrastructure so that New Jersey continues to set an example for states around the nation.’

‘Our endorsements of candidates of both parties show that when it comes to protecting workers, we expect our representatives to leave partisanship in the cloakroom and vote on behalf of New Jersey’s workers on important issues like defending prevailing wage laws and the use of Project Labor Agreements, cracking down on bad actors, and safeguarding workers rights.”

Incumbents in both parties were endorsed, including the 1st Congressional District, where the IBEW’s own, Congressman Donald Norcross was endorsed for re-election. In the race for the open 8th Congressional District seat, Robert J. Menendez was endorsed.
