NJDSC Announces District Delegate Candidate Filing Deadlines for 2020 Presidential Election

Democrats Interested in Running Must Submit Forms to NJDSC by March 9, File Nominating Petitions by March 30

TRENTON, NJ — The New Jersey Democratic State Committee is advising all Democrats interested in running as district delegates in the 2020 Presidential Primary of two important upcoming deadlines. The deadline for district delegate candidates to submit “Statement of Candidacy” and “Pledge of Support” forms is March 9, which will be followed by the filing deadline for nominating petitions on March 30.

“As Democrats we must do everything in our power to defeat Donald Trump in November, and electing delegates to represent the state of New Jersey at the Democratic National Convention is an important step toward that goal,” said NJDSC Chairman John Currie. “The NJDSC is committed to running an open and transparent process, and I encourage any fellow Democrats interested in running for delegate slots to participate in this process.”

Democrats interested in running for a delegate position to the Democratic National Convention in July should visit the Delegate Selection Plan page where they can find all the necessary forms, as well as access the NJDSC’s Delegate Selection Plan.

“The stakes for the 2020 Presidential Election could not be higher, which is why our New Jersey Democratic Party is taking this process so seriously,” said NJDSC Executive Director Saily Avelenda. “It is crucial that we get this right and send a strong and diverse group of delegates to Milwaukee this July. Any Democrat interested in being a part of this process should fill out the forms located on the NJDSC website.”
