NJDSC Chairman John Currie and Vice Chair Peg Schaffer Release Statements Following Georgia Senate Democrat Victories

TRENTON, NJ — Following the historic victories of Democratic Senate candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in Tuesday night’s election, NJDSC Chairman John Currie and Vice Chair Peg Schaffer have released the following statements:

“I would like to congratulate Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock on their victories. The people of Georgia made the right decision to support candidates who will work tirelessly for their constituents and to reject two Trump enablers who were willing to disenfranchise their own voters just to indulge the President’s attacks on our democracy,” said NJDSC Chairman John Currie. “The stakes of this election season could not have been greater and I am pleased that the American people have overwhelmingly backed our Democratic agenda. It is also particularly exciting to see Rev. Warnock become the first Black Democrat elected to the U.S. Senate from the South, continuing the legacy of the late, great John Lewis and other historic figures who have helped push our country toward justice.”

“The people of the great state of Georgia have once again made their voices heard loud and clear in support of our Democratic, middle class agenda,” said NJDSC Vice Chair Peg Schaffer. “The voters of Georgia have given President-elect Joe Biden two Senators in Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock who will work with him to improve the lives of people across this nation. Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans can no longer block critical legislation such as pandemic relief, expanded healthcare access, a living wage and much more. Thank you to Georgia and congratulations to Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock.”
