Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Jack Ciattarelli Yet to Explain His Decision to Speak at Bedminster “Stop the Steal” Rally

TRENTON — In light of news that U.S. Capitol Police have obtained intelligence related to a militia plot to breach the Capitol on Thursday, the Murphy for Governor campaign today called on Jack Ciattarelli to finally explain to New Jerseyans his association with right-wing groups and why he attended and spoke at a Bedminster “Stop the Steal” Rally in November.

The event was part of a right-wing movement that led to the violent insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, which tragically resulted in five deaths. Among them, Capitol Hill Police Officer and native New Jerseyan, Brian Sicknick.

“Nearly two months after the violent attacks on our Capitol, Jack Ciattarelli continues to deliberately mislead voters as to why he participated in a rally that was literally advertised as ‘Stop the Steal.’ It’s the same extreme and demonstrably false propaganda that fueled dangerous conspiracy theories about the 2020 election,” said Murphy for Governor Spokesman Jerrel Harvey. “Voters deserve to know if Jack stands with violent and radical extremists, or with the people of New Jersey.”
