NJEA statement on S-2 relief funds
TRENTON, NJ —NJEA President Sean M. Spiller, Vice President Steve Beatty and Secretary-Treasurer Petal Robertson released this statement following the passage of S-3732/A-5328. When signed into law, it will provide $102 million in additional funding to school districts that saw state aid reductions under S-2:

“We are pleased that lawmakers have worked across party lines to direct much-needed additional school aid to students and educators across New Jersey affected by S-2. By providing an additional $102 million to those schools, the Legislature is helping to ensure that students will have the people and programs in place that they need for a successful 2023-24 school year.

“We commend Senate President Scutari, Speaker Coughlin and legislators from both parties who moved so quickly to protect students. And we thank Gov. Murphy, who is expected to sign this bill quickly so that the Department of Education can send out revised aid notices and districts can start rebuilding budgets to reflect this incredibly important additional funding.”
