NJUA STATEMENT ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY DAY

Trenton — New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA) President Tom Churchelow issued the following statement today on Energy Efficiency Day. Started in 2016, Energy Efficiency Day is meant to help raise awareness by sharing tips, tools and stories that promote the multiple benefits of energy efficiency:

“The NJUA and the companies and organizations we represent are proud to take part in Energy Efficiency Day. By being more energy efficient, we can achieve three of our members’ and the state’s largest goals: lower utility costs, cut pollution and create jobs here in New Jersey.

“We have long held and maintained that the cheapest and cleanest unit of energy is energy not used. That is why utilities have led the way in developing and deploying energy efficiency programs, both individually and in partnership with the New Jersey Clean Energy Program. Our members have been partners in and supporters of the development and enactment of the Clean Energy Act, working diligently with the NJCEP and NJBPU on its implementation.

“Days like today are more than just talking about energy efficiency; they are about sharing ways and means to create more energy efficiency here in New Jersey and across the nation. We hope others will learn from the example being set forth by our members. That’s what Energy Efficiency Day is all about.”

The New Jersey Utilities Association is the statewide trade association for investor-owned utilities that provide essential water, wastewater, electric, natural gas and telecommunications services to New Jersey residents and businesses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. NJUA has provided a forum for the exchange of ideas and a unified voice in the public policy arena for its members since 1915.
