Nominations Open for NJBIA New Good Neighbor Awards

The New Jersey Business & Industry Association and New Jersey Business magazine are seeking nominations for their prestigious 58th Annual New Good Neighbor Awards competition celebrating outstanding economic development projects in New Jersey.

“New Good Neighbor Awards recognize the visionary architects, builders and financing professionals who turn exciting ideas into reality and make New Jersey a better place to live and do business,” said NJBIA President & CEO Michele Siekerka. “This competition showcases the best of the best who invest in communities, create jobs, and improve lives.”

Eligible New Jersey projects can be new or renovated or expanded plants, office and commercial buildings, retail centers (excluding individual stores within shopping centers), and green community projects, such as streetscapes or parks. Construction or capital expenditures must have been completed during the past two years, between Jan. 1, 2016, and Dec. 31, 2017.

Anyone can nominate a project for a New Good Neighbor Award, however, corporations, builders, contractors, and architects cannot nominate their own projects. The deadline for submitting nominations is Feb. 5, 2018.

Nominating letters can be submitted online at NJBIA’s website. All nominees will be contacted by NJBIA and asked to provide details about their projects for the independent judging committee, comprised of a cross-section of state associations and organizations.

Projects will be judged using criteria that takes into consideration economic benefits, job creation, architectural merit and community involvement. Winners will be notified by email in late March and their projects will be profiled in New Jersey Business magazine’s July issue and on NJBIA’s website. The awards will be presented at a July luncheon.

Last year, NJBIA received 26 New Good Neighbor Award nominations, representing $261 million in development investments and 5,072 new jobs. Go here to read more about the 14 winners honored 2017.
