Norcross Announces More Than $2.1M In Funding for South Jersey Community Health Center

CAMDEN, NJ – U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) announced today that CAMcare Health Corporation, a federally-qualified community health center in Camden City, will receive a grant of $2,119,418 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). This grant will support healthcare services for disadvantaged residents by providing additional federal assistance to a vital healthcare provider in Camden.

CAMcare Health Corporation has provided comprehensive healthcare to underserved communities in Camden and Gloucester Counties since 1978. This supplementary grant is continuation of the relationship between CAMcare and the HRSA’s Health Center Cluster grant program, which supports CAMcare’s overall operations and mission of providing high quality care to all families.

“Every person deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their income-level or whether they are insured,” said Congressman Norcross. “CAMcare provides critical services to our community so that no one is left without the care they need, especially in the midst of a deadly pandemic. Community health centers are vital to the well-being of local families, and this funding will support CAMcare’s ability to care for their patients. I applaud the frontline healthcare professionals at CAMcare who continue to improve the lives of so many through their work and have remained reliable and strong throughout this pandemic.”

“Without the help of Congressman Norcross, CAMcare would not have been able to receive the funding needed to help our at-risk community through these trying times,” said Mark Roberts, Chief Executive Officer of CAMcare.

HHS is a federal agency created to provide effective health and human services and foster advances in medicine, public health and social services. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is an agency of HHS with the primary goal of improving access to healthcare for the uninsured and medically vulnerable.
