North Bergen Voters Overwhelmingly Approve School Bonding Referendum

NORTH BERGEN, N.J. — Township voters approved a school bonding referendum in a landslide tonight that will pave the way for an ambitious School Realignment Plan. Unofficial totals show approximately 3,800 votes in favor of the referendum, which was strongly supported by Mayor Nicholas Sacco, to 1,300 votes against. The school district is now poised to receive $26 million in state education debt service support towards the realignment plan, which will add a new school building while also making major renovations and reducing class sizes district wide.

“I would like to thank the voters of North Bergen for their support on a brutally cold day in our efforts to finally give our children the excellent school facilities they deserve while protecting taxpayers,” said Mayor Sacco. “This outstanding result shows that the community agrees strongly with our vision for improving our schools, despite the constant lies and deception from political opponents who stood against our school children.”
