After Obama Rally Bust, Murphy Scrambles to Bring Bernie to NJ

Carl Golden, senior contributing analyst with the William J. After Obama Rally Bust, Murphy Scrambles to Bring Bernie to NJ

Come and keep your comrade warm!

Hey there –

You might think that a Democratic Governor would be able to summon legions of his own voters to see one of the most historically significant Presidents in our country’s history – and one hailing from his own party.

But, sadly, #FlusteredPhil can’t do anything right.

Saturday’s rally drew only a few hundred people for Phil, a damn shame when you consider that on the very same day, the former President brought in over 2,000 people to the Terry McAuliffe rally in Virginia.

Not to mention the fact that the last time a New Jersey Democratic Governor called President Obama to the rescue, there seemed to be…considerably more enthusiasm.
Now, with just one week left, Murphy is bringing in Senator Bernie Sanders to see if he can work his magic to turn out a base that seems less than enthusiastic to go to the polls for him.

In bringing him to the Garden State, Murphy is truly wrapping up his campaign on the theme that started it: if you want tax relief from some of the highest, most punitive taxes in the country, you should just leave our state. After all, Bernie himself is the architect of massive tax increases that would bankrupt our country and tank the economy.

Obama, Biden, Sanders in one week? The word “panicked” comes to mind.
