OFFICIAL NOTICE OF INTENT: Chris Fields for Senate 2026 NJ Democratic Primary

To the Chairs, Executive Boards, and Committee Members of the New Jersey State Democratic Party:

Please accept this correspondence as my Official Notice of Intent to seek the endorsement of the County Democratic Organizations and compete across all 21 counties for the office of United States Senate in the 2026 Primary Election.

I'm Chris Fields and I am an unbought progressive, fighting back for ordinary people and working families across New Jersey. We intend to have nominators and seconders across all 21 counties for this convention season. I will attend personally and speak or send a surrogate at every possible convention. We have been working hard with our amazing team to build the infrastructure necessary to have a campaign on the ground across New Jersey for this Democratic Primary.

Regarding Convention Deadlines and Transparency:
The first published date for a County Convention is Monmouth County, February 7, 2026. Today is January 3, 2026. Making today 35 Days before the first scheduled convention of our campaign announcing our intent to compete. This is well in line with the traditional 7-10 day windows decided by each county committee in past primary conventions.

We assert that this notice satisfies all reasonable requirements for candidacy.

To ensure a fair, open, and democratic process for the rank-and-file delegates of this party, I am formally requesting the following from every County Organization effective immediately:

  1. The Date, Time, and Location of your County Convention.
  2. The Rules of Procedure (Bylaws) governing the endorsement vote, specifically regarding floor nominations and access to speak at the convention
  3. The Notification Deadline for candidates (if different from this notice).
  4. The List of Eligible Delegates (County Committee members) so that I may communicate with them personally, as is the right of any candidate seeking endorsement.

Attempts to limit convention access through "holiday deadlines," obscure social media posts, or retroactive rule changes serve only to disenfranchise the voters and protect the wealthy and well-connected. I am running to fight back against that system. These practices are also in violation of the State Democratic Committee bylaws that seek to ensure a fair and transparent process, where candidates are given due notice and committee members have the opportunity to meet and communicate with candidates and campaigns and decide the party endorsement in a democratic manner.

I look forward to a robust debate on the issues and working together to ensure we have a fair, open and productive convention season.

Best regards,

Chris Fields
