Old Bridge Township Councilman David Merwin has filed for his re-election and will be on the ballot in the November General Election. Dave is well known for his service to Ward 1 and many local residents know and have met Dave as he works to solve their problems. He has served multiple terms on the Township Planning Board, on the Library Board, and as Commissioner on the OBMUA. For the last twelve (12) years, Dave has coordinated the local Memorial Day Parade, and for the last twenty (20) years, he has been a coordinator of the Salt-Water Day Festival, both of which are centered in Laurence Harbor and Cliffwood Beach. Dave Merwin was an original member of the Center Barrier Committee on Route 35, responsible for the Jersey Barriers that protect our local residents every day, and he has a long history of Union Labor Activities, serving for many years as President of IFPTE Local 196 Chapter 7, and as a member of Teamsters Local 496 before his retirement.

Councilman Merwin has served on the Laurence Harbor First Aid Squad since 1972 and has answered over 10,000 emergency calls. While continuing to serve his community as Councilman, Dave has always found the time to go into each neighborhood and check for potholes and other issues such as trash or blighted property and calling them in to the appropriate department for their attention or repair. Dave has also been known to call in light outages as he travels around the Ward at night, making sure our neighborhoods are safe. As Councilman, Dave Merwin has worked to improve the parks in the area and has continued fighting to schedule improvements in the next Capitol Budget.

Dave is running unopposed in the Democratic primary this June and looks forward to a good issue orientated campaign in the fall, when he runs against a political newcomer. Dave has pledged that he will continue to hear and listen to all residents of Ward 1, in his continuing service to build a fairer and stronger community for all.
