Pascrell Comments on the Arrest and Arraignment of Donald Trump

PATERSON, NJ – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today commented on the arrest and booking of Donald Trump.

“Something happened today that has never occurred before in America’s long, storied history,” said Rep. Pascrell. “Today, a former President of the United States was booked, fingerprinted, and appeared before a judge in a criminal proceeding as a defendant. That a former President and leader of the Republican Party was arraigned on 34 felonies demonstrates that the rule of law endures in America, and no one is above the law. Yet instead of reflecting on the importance of holding leaders accountable to our American democracy, prominent Republicans have instead called Mr. Trump the victim, castigated the New York District Attorney, denigrated the justice system, and fomented national unrest. Even as top Republicans attempt to divide our nation, I pray this trial will achieve justice for America.”
