Pascrell Praises Biden Protection of Civil Service Workers
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today praised the decision of the Biden administration to eliminate Schedule F imposed by the Trump regime and designed to pillage the Federal civil service. On November 3, 2020, Pascrell led members of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight sounding the alarm of politicization at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and demanding then-U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig not wreck IRS civil service protections.
“For over 130 years, the civil service has been the bedrock beneath sterling governance and an engine for the growth of our nation,” said Rep. Pascrell. “The Trump regime tried to destroy the civil service and turn it into a servile arm of the executive. They failed. It is incumbent on us now to patch the holes left in the civil service and rebuild its foundation. This is work especially vital at IRS so Americans can trust that our tax system is always administered equitably without political interference. I applaud President Biden for moving quickly to start the work of protecting the civil service and federal workers. Government only works when it serves the people, not the President or the politicians.”
