Pascrell Praises Yellen Nomination Intention, Reacts to Biden Administration Economic Policy Team
PATERSON, NJ – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09), Chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight, reacted to the announcement by President-elect Joe Biden of his intention to nominate the core of his economic policy team. That team includes Janet Yellen to be U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Neera Tanden to be Director of the Office of Management and Budget, Wally Adeyemo to be Deputy Treasury Secretary, Cecilia Rouse to be Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, and Jared Bernstein and Heather Boushey to be members of the Council of Economic Advisers.
“I am confident Janet Yellen will be a strong Treasury Secretary and I am pleased with her appointment,” said Chairman Pascrell. “Going from the current Treasury Secretary to Dr. Yellen is the difference between the outhouse and the penthouse. I am confident that Dr. Yellen will reform a department decimated by chaos, cronyism, and corruption. I look forward to working with Dr. Yellen to rededicate our government to the pursuit of higher wages for working Americans, a tax system not slanted to the wealthy, and halting growing inequality that threatens to rip our nation apart. President-elect Biden’s campaign was focused on these issues, so I am sure his entire economic team will be guided by the same exact objectives. With America near a breaking point, and after decades of inaction and failed policies by administrations of both parties, it is time for hard action on behalf of regular Americans. I am confident in Dr. Yellen’s ability to right America’s economic ship.”
