Passaic Valley Water Commission to Begin Clearing the Way for its New Street Reservoir Tank Project
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Clifton, N.J. – January 06, 2023) – Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) will begin preliminary investigations to support design work for its New Street Reservoir Tank project in Woodland Park. This pre-work is anticipated to begin on Monday, January 9, 2023, until about Friday, January 20, 2023.
The phases of Geotechnical Investigations to be done are as follows:
Soil Borings: This is the process of collecting samples of soil and bedrock and is used to determine the soil’s physical and chemical properties ahead of various engineering projects. This is a necessary part of the construction process. PVWC will do this at 4 different locations around New Street Reservoir.
Tree Trimming and Fence Replacement: Three or four days will be dedicated to trimming trees and replacing fences for this preparatory work.
Residents near New Street Reservoir will be notified 48 hours before work will begin.
“Continuing to provide high-quality, clean drinking water to our customers is our number one priority,” said PVWC Executive Director Jim Mueller. “We are pleased to start this preliminary investigation work as part of our long-term plan to close these open-air reservoirs…we take public health and safety very seriously.”
