Polistina to Continue Bipartisan Judicial Candidate Review Committee
Committee Reviews Candidates for Superior Court, Office of Administrative Law & Division of Workers’ Compensation in Atlantic County
Senator Vince Polistina announced he will continue a review committee established collaboratively by former Senator Chris Brown and the Atlantic County Bar Association to assist with the initial review and recommendation of various judicial candidates in Atlantic County.
“After conversations with Senator Brown and other former Atlantic County senators, I’ve decided the committee should continue with its mission of helping to recommend the best judicial candidates for important positions in Atlantic County,” said Polistina (R-2). “We will continue to look for candidates that have undisputed integrity, a high degree of knowledge of established legal principles and procedures, an appropriate judicial temperament, and a record of service to their community.”
Polistina said the continuation of the committee will ensure that the Atlantic County Bar Association maintains a meaningful role throughout the judicial candidate identification process.
Further, he said the panel will facilitate a meaningful collaboration with the legal community when he has opportunities to recommend prospects for nomination and to support their approval by the Senate through the constitutional process of advice and consent.
Julie Nugent will continue to chair the committee and will be joined by Carmen Faia, Adam Walcoff, Gina Merritt, and John Ridgway.
“I want to thank all of the members for agreeing to serve on the committee,” added Polistina. “We have developed a committee of attorneys from multiple areas of practice, different party affiliations, and different backgrounds to ensure we have a cross-section of the Atlantic County community. I have already started discussions with the Governor’s Office given that there are several vacancies now, and the input from the Committee will be vital to this extremely important endeavor.”
