Polistina, Guardian & Swift statement on FY2024 Budget
Legislative District Two team votes in favor
TRENTON — Senator Vince Polistina and Assembly members Don Guardian and Claire Swift (all R – Atlantic) offered the following statements after today’s budget vote.
“Democrat or Republican budget, we’ve made our position known in Trenton: Atlantic County comes first. I am pleased to report this budget targets over $200 million for the future growth of Atlantic County through critical investments into AtlantiCare, the Atlantic County Economic Alliance, Stockton University, and major road repairs” Senator Polistina said. “Last year’s budget brought $50 million back home. This year: $200 million. Next year? Our team won’t ever stop fighting for what the hardworking, middle-class families of Atlantic County deserve.”
“New Jerseyans are owed a better budgeting process but with more seniors now eligible for the ANCHOR program, Senior Property Tax Freeze, and the brand new StayNJ program, this budget exceeded last year’s historic level of investment into property tax reduction,” Assemblywoman Swift said. “Families are in desperate need of relief from the crushing weight of inflation, especially our seniors on fixed incomes. With up to $8,250 returning every year back into the pockets of those that need it most, this budget earned our support.”
“Atlantic City won big in this year’s budget with a new Urban Investment Fund, $30 million for high-priority improvements, and a $100 million Boardwalk Fund for the Jersey Shore,” Assemblyman Guardian said. “This will also be the third, consecutive budget with a fully funded pension payment to our police, firefighters, and first responders. For decades, Trenton played politics with the money meant for those who sacrificed for our communities. Vince, Claire, and I will never forget that sacrifice and make sure the voice of our retired public safety professionals is heard in state government.”
