PRESS RELEASE FROM THE MEMBERS OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO THE NEW JERSEY CENTER FOR HISPANIC POLICY, RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
August 6, 2021:
The members of the Advisory Committee to the New Jersey Center for Hispanic Policy, Research and Development/CHPR&D (headquartered in Trenton) have issued a statement informing about its recently approved Resolution.
Submitted to the governor through the Center’s executive director, said Resolution urges Governor Murphy to join with so many other voices in our Garden State who are urgently requesting President Joe Biden to mobilize all the necessary resources of the Federal Government to provide the people of Cuba access to the Internet.
As it is known, the Cuban government blocks such access to ordinary citizens. We believe that being able to receive unimpeded free information is essential for the much-desired open society. The Resolution is signed by the active members of the Advisory Committee:
Lydia Valencia: Chair; Prof. Rolando Alum: Vice Chair
Clarisa González-Lenahan; Elis Sosa; Kathy Monteiro;
David Jiménez; Luis Rodríguez; Reuben Torres; Rich Valdés
