PROJECT READY LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN TO ADVANCE SAME-DAY VOTER REGISTRATION LEGISLATION
Newark-based non-profit social justice advocacy organization Project Ready is launching a campaign to pass same-day voter registration in New Jersey. Legislation (A4548/S2824) has been introduced in the New Jersey legislature that would allow voters to register and vote on Election Day.
“Having the proper access to vote is a social justice issue that often leaves minority and young voters out of the democratic process,” said Project Ready CEO, Shennell McCloud. “We are building a statewide movement to tear down barriers to vote and ensure that all of our fellow New Jersey residents have the information and resources they need to vote on Election Day.”
Project Ready is launching a grassroots advocacy campaign to mobilize residents across the state. The campaign will include an online petition and online tools for citizens to contact legislators directly calling on them to pass A5448/S2824.
Residents can use the online tool to email legislators at: http://www.projectreadynj.org/samedayvote/.
About Project Ready:
Project Ready is a non-profit social justice organization based in Newark, New Jersey. Our long-term vision is to see a world where no community is left voiceless—a world where parents, guardians, and students in our most vulnerable communities feel heard, informed, and civically educated, and thereby powered to overhaul systems and policies in place that limit educational opportunities.
