Prominent New Jersey Attorney Among List of Influential Women Honored as Delegates to the Democratic Party National Convention

PARAMUS – August 21, 2020 – DeCotiis, FitzPatrick, Cole & Giblin, LLP, was honored by Arlene Quinones Perez, Equity Partner & Diversity Chair, for having been selected by the New Jersey Democratic State Committee (“NJDSC”) to be a delegate to the Democratic Party National Convention. She served as one of New Jersey’s Party Leader and Elected Official (“PLEO”) delegates to the 2020 National Convention and represented the State of New Jersey at the virtual Democratic National Convention during the week of August 17-21, 2020. Arlene’s role as a delegate ultimately aided in the nomination of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as official party candidates for the presidential campaign.

This year’s virtual convention made history in a number of ways, as Kamala Harris became the first minority woman to be on a major party’s ticket for a presidential election. Like Harris, Arlene also has a long history of fighting for democracy, equity, and inclusion. This election marks a significant time as it opens the doors for future female candidates that can create policies more supportive of women and minorities.

“As Chair of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee’s Latino Caucus, Arlene Perez is one of the strongest voices in our party for the principles of fairness, justice, and equal opportunity,” said Governor Phil Murphy. “I am proud to have Arlene serve among so many influential women who are representing the New Jersey Delegation at this year’s Democratic Convention to help elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. She is a true leader whose voice resonates in New Jersey and beyond.”

“Arlene is one of the strongest leaders of our New Jersey Democratic Party,” said First Lady Tammy Murphy. “She has a unique ability to navigate government and politics with confidence and authority.  As a proud Puerto Rican and working mom, she brings a diverse voice to the table and represents the very best of our Democratic Party and country.”

Arlene Quinones Perez, also chair of the Hunterdon County Democrats, is part of the power lawyers group, Jersey Lawyers for Joe, representing Joe Biden for President. She has also been named a Women’s History Maker in New Jersey, is an NJBIZ 40 Under 40 award recipient, and is the first Latina Equity Partner in the DeCotiis Law firm history.

Joseph M. DeCotiis, co-managing partner for DeCotiis, FitzPatrick, Cole & Giblin, LLP, noted on the historical achievement, “Arlene is an inspiration and testament to what hard work and perseverance can achieve. She leads without compromising her beliefs and integrity in everything she does.”

He concluded, “I am proud of her accomplishments as a skilled attorney, activist, and political strategist, and most importantly, balancing these roles with being a mother of three. She is the embodiment of strength and valor—an attribute of a great leader.”

In addition to being an experienced Labor and Employment attorney who specializes working with various public sector school districts, Arlene has risen to the top of the Democratic Party. Arlene’s extensive government and political experience includes her service as a Councilwoman in the Town of Clinton, New Jersey, where she was the youngest member of the municipality’s governing body and the only Hispanic woman to serve as an elected official in Hunterdon County.
