Quijano Statement on U.S. Supreme Court Decision on Roe vs. Wade
(TRENTON) – Assembly Majority Conference Leader Annette Quijano (D-Union) issued the following statement on the recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court regarding Roe vs. Wade:
“Today is a dark day for women throughout the United States. By overturning Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court has eliminated the constitutional right to reproductive freedom, erasing nearly 50 years of court precedent and leaving millions without the ability to make personal family planning decisions. I am deeply troubled by this outcome and the impact it will have on the lives of many.
“I am proud of the work we have done in New Jersey to protect reproductive rights for women. The NJ Reproductive Freedom Act underscores the unequivocal right of a woman to make her own decisions about her body and reproductive health.”
Assemblywoman Quijano was one of the primary sponsors of the NJ Reproductive Freedom Act when it was first introduced in October of 2020.
