RBG’s Legacy Rally in New Jersey Joins Women’s March 2020

The League of Women Voters of New Jersey and local chapters throughout the state are hosting RBG’s Legacy Rally this Saturday, October 17 at 2pm at the duCret School in Plainfield, New Jersey, as part of the national Women’s March 2020. We will hear from strong, diverse voices representing advocacy groups from across the State on the rally themes of gender justice, racial justice and economic justice.

This is a nonpartisan event to be held on the broad grounds of the duCret School of Art, 1030 Central Ave in Plainfield, NJ, where people can safely organize in marked off pods. Participants must wear masks and maintain social distancing.

We believe that Women’s Rights are Human Rights and Human Rights are Women’s Rights. We must create a society in which women – including Black women, Indigenous women, poor women, immigrant women, disabled women, Jewish women, Muslim women, Latinx women, Asian and Pacific Islander women, lesbian, bi, queer, and trans women – are free and able to care for and nurture their families, however they are formed, in safe and healthy environments free from structural impediments.

Nancy Hedinger, President of the League of Women Voters of New Jersey, applauds the rally noting that, “The League of Women Voters is opposed to the rush to replace Justice Ginsburg, a fearless trailblazer and fierce defender of women’s rights and civil rights. We join the march to honor her legacy and draw attention to her commitment to social justice for all.”
