RELEASE: PARENTI ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENTS FROM 7 SHERIFFS

After all provisional and votes by mail were tallied, North Plainfield Police Chief Bill Parenti defeated former K-9 officer Tim Pino by 238 votes in the GOP Primary for Somerset County Sheriff, according to Somerset County Clerk Steve Peter.

Somerville, NJ – Today, North Plainfield Chief of Police Bill Parenti announced endorsements from 7 New Jersey County Sheriffs. These 7 sheriffs join Somerset County Sheriff Frank Provenzanothe Somerset County Association of Chiefs of Police and the Somerset County Republican Organization in supporting Parenti. The North Plainfield PBA Local 85 also voted to support Parenti’s candidacy.

“I am grateful for the outpouring of support from my brothers and sisters in law enforcement,” said Chief Parenti, who has served as North Plainfield’s Chief of Police for 14 years. “I have spent my life protecting and serving our communities, and I’m ready on Day One to be your Sheriff.”

With 36 years of law enforcement experience, and 14 years of proven leadership as North Plainfield’s Chief of Police, Chief Parenti has spent his career protecting our families and keeping criminals out of our communities. A founding member of the Mayor’s Drug Task Force, Chief Parenti’s leadership has earned praise from New Jersey’s Attorney General, the National Latino Peace Officers Association, and the Rotary Club of Plainfield and North Plainfield.

Throughout the course of his service, Parenti has earned multiple awards and commendations for large narcotics busts and credible acts performed in the line of duty.

  • Salem County Sheriff Charles Miller;
  • Sussex County Sheriff Michael Strada; and
  • Warren County Sheriff James McDonald.
