Rep. Andy Kim has union support

SEIU NJ State Council to phonebank and canvass for Congressman

Beginning on Thursday, October 13, 2022, members of the SEIU NJ State Council will take to the phones and reach out to hundreds of voters in Burlington, Mercer and Ocean counties to urge the reelection of Rep. Andy Kim in (D-CD-3). Members are slated to knock on doors in District 3 later this month.

The SEIU NJ State Council is composed of unions representing nearly 15,000 service employees across the state including those working in health care, distribution centers, school cafeterias, municipal services, coffee shops, industrial laundries, and motor vehicle inspection stations. Member unions are 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, The Laundry, Distribution and Food Service Joint Board, Workers United. The Committee of Interns and Residents, and 32BJ-MVI.

“Andy has our back and we have his,” said Alejandro Mateo, a warehouse worker and shop steward with Workers United. “As a congressman, he has fought to protect and expand our healthcare, including reproductive rights. The Republicans want to slash Medicare and Medicaid – Andy wants to strengthen them and invest in our families’ futures by making the child tax credit permanent.”

“Congressman Kim will protect our right to organize and make sure the rights of workers, immigrants, and women are protected. As the son of immigrants and a national security expert he brings much-needed perspective and expertise to Congress,” said 1199SEIU member Son Bui, who knocked on doors for Congressman Kim and has been a Certified Nursing Assistant for more than 15 years.  “We all remember the moving pictures of Congressman Kim cleaning up the halls of Congress after the insurrection. He truly is a servant leader.”

Kim is running for a third term in the district in Central New Jersey.
