Rep. Andy Kim pushed for Biden climate and infrastructure plan at Mount Holly Art Event
Mount Holly, NJ – Rep. Andy Kim pledged at an art activism event in Mill Race Village in Mount Holly to support President Biden’s landmark Build Back Better Act to invest $3.5 trillion in creating millions of well-paying union jobs focusing on clean energy, electric vehicles, water quality, and remediation of contaminated industrial sites.
The bill, the centerpiece of Biden’s domestic agenda, would help the communities in New Jersey’s Third District by funding stormwater infrastructure to reduce flooding, funding lead pipe replacement projects and cleaning up toxic Superfund sites.
“We are at a tipping point in our country and around the world, climate change is here and we can see its very real consequences in the violent tornados and flooding that swept across New Jersey just a few weeks ago, the wildfires raging in California and Minnesota’s land of 10,000 lakes facings the worst drought in recent memory,” said Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown). “I’m thrilled to be attending this event and proud to join the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters in our collective fight to push America towards more investments in clean energy infrastructure. The investments we make now will create thousands of jobs here in New Jersey and provide a cleaner, safer environment for us, our kids, and generations to come.”
The event featured a chalk art mural created by artist Anthony Cappetto and was hosted by the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters. Grassroots volunteers were invited to participate and create their own art pieces expressing why they cared about climate change and why it was important for Congress to act now.
“As extreme weather events like Hurricane Ida pummel New Jersey and flood our communities, the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters is proud to support the work of environmental champions like Congressman Kim as they fight to pass the most significant federal climate legislation ever, said Kai Mateo, Federal Climate Campaign Manager for New Jersey LCV. “New Jersey needs President Biden’s Build Back Better Act now because we need the whole country to be on a pathway to 100 percent clean energy by 2035, to make significant investments in the Black, brown and low-income communities that have been hardest hit by the climate and COVID crises, and to create millions of good-paying jobs installing electric vehicle charging stations, solar panels, wind turbines and a new, resilient electric grid.”
