Rep. Payne, Jr. Hosts Infrastructure Funding Forum with NJ-10 Mayors     

Washington, D.C. — Rep. Donald M. Payne, Jr. hosted a virtual forum today with mayors from communities throughout New Jersey’s Tenth Congressional District to discuss available funding for local infrastructure projects in the new infrastructure law.  Rep. Payne, Jr. began the forum with a description of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the new $1.2 trillion dollar funding package to fix roads, bridges, rail systems and other infrastructure needs nationwide.  Then Rep. Payne, Jr. informed the mayors about funding provisions in the package that would help them pay for their specific projects.  The mayors discussed a variety of needs in the district, such as dangerous roads and bridges, flood mitigation projects to protect towns and cities from natural disasters, and improved water and sewer systems.

“I introduced the original infrastructure bill and helped pass the final Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act because it would provide billions of dollars to rebuild the infrastructure of the communities I represent in Congress,” said Rep. Donald M. Payne, Jr.  “I invited all the mayors of the great towns and cities throughout the Tenth Congressional District to this forum to educate them about federal funds available in this new law.  It was great to hear about their projects and I will continue to fight to make sure they get funded.”
