Rep. Payne, Jr. Introduces National Men’s Health Week Resolution

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. introduced a resolution today to recognize the week of June 13 through June 19 as National Men’s Health Week.  The bipartisan measure requests President Biden to issue “a proclamation to call on Americans and interested groups to observe National Men’s Health Week with appropriate ceremonies and activities.”  Rep. Payne, Jr. is the chairman of the Congressional Men’s Health Caucus.

“Too many men are suffering and dying needlessly because they don’t take their health and wellness seriously,” said Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr.  “Too often, men put off regular physicals and health screenings because they feel healthy.  But these health care delays are one reason men live five years less than women.  Also, men die from heart disease, cancer and other leading causes of death at far greater rates than women.  I am proud to introduce this resolution because we have to encourage more men to get regular screenings for health issues to avoid life-threatening diseases.”
