Rep. Sherrill Praises Passage of SFC Sean Cooley and SPC Christopher Horton Congressional Gold Star Family Fellowship Program Act

Washington, DC — Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) praised the passage of the SFC Sean Cooley and SPC Christopher Horton Congressional Gold Star Family Fellowship Program Act (H.Res. 107) today in the House of Representatives. Representative Sherrill is a co-sponsor of this bipartisan legislation, led by Republican Representative Trent Kelly (MS-01), to provide family members of fallen soldiers an opportunity to participate in fellowships in congressional offices.

“Gold Star families have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation,” said Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill. “While we can never repay that sacrifice, we can offer family members an opportunity to work in congressional offices, advise lawmakers, and participate in the government that decides to send our service members into harm’s way. The strong bipartisan support for this resolution reflects our enduring commitment to our Gold Star families.”

Representative Mikie Sherrill is the Vice Chair of the Servicewomen and Women Veterans Congressional Caucus and a member of the House Armed Services Committee. She is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and served nearly 10 years in the United States Navy as a helicopter pilot.
